How we put together our numbers

Our cost estimates are built from publicly available pricing at major retailers, manufacturer coverage specs (e.g. paint coverage per gallon), and published industry rate guides for professional labor. Every article lists its assumptions (room size, number of coats, etc.) so you can adjust the numbers to your own situation — our calculators let you plug in your exact measurements instead of relying on a generic average.

Prices change often and vary by region. We review and update articles periodically, but always treat our numbers as a starting estimate, not a quote.
